Aguirre Blames De Lima for Pacquiao's Loss

BRISBANE, Australia — After Senator Manny Pacquiao's loss against Jeff Horn, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II told the media yesterday it was Senator Leila de Lima who is to blame.

Speaking to a group of journalists the day after the fight, Aguirre noted that de Lima was in contact with the three judges—Waleska Roldan, Chris Flores, and Ramon Cerdan.

According to Aguirre, De Lima wanted to destabilize Manny Pacquiao's senatorial career since he was an ally of President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Nung kakaannounce pa lang ng fight ni Pacquiao, pumunta si de Lima sa US para kausapin yung magiging judges ng fight. Nakumpirma natin ito dahil may picture si de Lima sa Facebook kasama sila," said Aguirre.

Aguirre demurely showed journalists the pic but quickly took it back, since it will be used as evidence for the investigation.

De Lima is currently detained for drug charges which she has repeatedly denied.

Manny Pacquiao lost his welterweight title to Jeff Horn via unanimous decision with scores of 117-111, 115-113, and 115-113.
