Quezon City Students Discover Their Waterbending Powers
QUEZON CITY, Philippines — As they entered their classes early in the morning, Quezon City students discover they have waterbending powers in this stormy day, July 27.
This was after Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte announced via a lengthy post in Facebook that the local government will not suspend classes in the city.
"We will only know later if we made the right decision. There is nothing more difficult to predict than the weather, but one of the most difficult decisions a leader has to make is to predict very early on, whether something so unpredictable as the weather, will have an adverse effect on our children, to the extent that it is worth giving up one day of education for, considering that latest data show that 30% of our school children graduate from elementary without knowing how to read," said Belmonte.
Students disappointed with the decision of the QC government went out this morning only to discover that they can control the rain brought by tropical storm Gorio.
"Nung papasok ko po, inisip ko po na sana wala na lang ulan. Nung tinaas ko po yung kamay ko, biglang tumigil yung pagpatak ng ulan sa harap ko," said Katara, a 14-year-old student from the Southern Water Tribe of Quezon City.
Katara said that she tried showing it to her friend Aang, who was also able to replicate the ability.
"Buti na lang po, may waterbending powers kami," said Aang. He also reported that he could control air and earth, but Katara was not able to do so.
"Basta ang importante, di na kami mababasa ng ulan," said Katara.
Meanwhile, the Fire Nation is planning to attack Quezon City to change everything.
