LOL Players Do Better At School VS DotA Players According to Research

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - League of Legends (LOL) players have higher grades and generally do well in school compared to Defense of the Ancients (DotA) players, a news study revealed.

In a new study conducted by the Department of Psychology by the University of the Philippines Diliman, student researchers found out that LOL players score higher in both midterms and final exams compared to DotA players, with a difference of more than 10 points.

"League of Legends players scored on average 89.4% on Midterm exams and 87.8% on Final exams. DotA players scored 77.9% on Midterm exams and 76.8% on Final exams," according to the research paper presented by the group.

The research has a sample size of 10,000 players each, composed of college students across the country. The sample was also divided by year gender, year level, and rank in game.

"Dividing by year level, LOL players still dominated DotA players across the board, with senior LOL players scoring 12 points higher than their DotA counterparts."

The study also found out that female players scored higher than male players in both games, with a higher average of 91.2% compared to 86.1% for males.

"We've also found out that a huge number of failing students have higher MMR in DotA. Meanwhile, LOL players with at least Gold ranking did considerably well compared to their lower ranked counterparts."

The student researchers provided possible reasons for this discrepancy.

"We think that the toxicity of the game is the primary reasons why DotA scored lower than LOL. The mentality of getting 'mid' or else they will 'feed' is prevalent in the DotA culture than LOL. DotA players have also created more 'memes' about LOL being a tutorial for 'DotA' than actually studying. Focus is one of the primary reasons for success."

This article is a satire.
